The detail behind the work
Good technical projects need both clear communication and realistic implementation decisions. I work through the content and the systems with you before turning an idea into a release plan.
01Understand the audiences and the offer
We identify who needs to use the website and what each audience needs from it. The result is a practical map of services, resources and next steps.
For sector-specific examples, my IT and telecoms website page explores these requirements in more detail. The wider web design service also covers businesses whose information and customer journeys are simpler, with a proportionate scope.
02Review content and technical dependencies
Your existing material is a starting point, not something to discard automatically. We review useful pages, documents and URLs, then identify what is outdated or missing. Your specialists approve the technical claims; I help shape the structure, readability and design around the information that visitors need.
At the same time, we identify dependencies: current CMS, hosting, access, integrations and supplier responsibilities. My website consultancy can help with those decisions. Where additional bespoke development is needed, feasibility and cost should be clear before it is treated as part of the build.
03Design for clarity and implement carefully
The visual system should help the content rather than compete with it. I design clear navigation, useful headings and layouts that work across screen sizes. Resources and contact routes need to remain usable without relying on an animation or a particular device to reveal important information.
The build follows the agreed requirements, with appropriate checks for the key journeys and editing tasks. Metadata, crawl directives and canonical URLs need attention alongside the interface.
04Agree ownership of the ongoing work
The people using the website should know how to request or make changes. We agree a handover and a support route, including how content approvals and technical releases will work. This is especially useful where the website sits alongside external providers or an internal development and marketing team.
I can provide maintenance and technical care, or contribute to a broader improvement plan. The right arrangement depends on your platform and requirements. Ongoing marketing, integrations and future features are agreed explicitly rather than hidden inside a vague promise to look after everything.
