When your website needs to do more

A useful idea.
Built to work.

A new website, a feature you’ve been missing or two systems that really should talk to each other. Let’s work out the right way to build it.

We develop websites around the tasks people need to complete. That might mean giving customers a clearer enquiry journey, helping your team manage a growing library of content or bringing information from another system into your site. The job comes first; the technology follows.

Our Wigan designers and developers work together, keeping what visitors see connected to what happens behind the scenes. We can bring development into a complete web design project or review an existing website before planning a focused improvement. You speak directly with the people making it happen.

Thought through, behind the scenes

More possibility.
Less complication.

Custom development earns its place when it solves a real problem. We look at the tools you already use, the people responsible for them and the parts of the process that create extra work. Sometimes a well-chosen integration is enough; sometimes the brief needs something built around you.

A useful website should be manageable after launch. We think about the content your team changes, how data moves and what happens when an outside service is unavailable. Those decisions shape the build as much as the features on the first page of the brief.

We keep the technical decisions understandable. You know why we recommend a platform, which third-party services it depends on and what will need maintaining. A clear scope, practical documentation and an agreed handover give your team a useful starting point for whatever comes next.

The right tools for the job

Built around people.
Connected to your business.

We agree the technical scope around your brief. These are some of the ways we can turn a website into a more useful part of the working day.

WordPress you can work with

Flexible page templates and considered editing tools give your team control over everyday content. We agree what needs to be editable and how it should behave, so adding a service, updating a team member or publishing an article feels familiar.

Custom functionality

Some requirements need more than an off-the-shelf plugin. PHP and Laravel development can support bespoke features and business rules, with the approach shaped around what the feature needs to do, who will use it and how it will be maintained.

Useful integrations

Connect an enquiry form to your business tools, bring external information into the website or reduce repeated data entry. We review the available APIs, access requirements and limitations before agreeing how the connection will work and what happens if a step fails.

Careful migrations

Moving an existing website means understanding what is worth keeping. We review content, URL structures and the data that needs to move, then plan the transfer, redirects and checks. Responsibilities and any temporary restrictions are agreed before the move begins.

Performance with a purpose

Responsive interfaces, sensible loading and efficient code help people complete tasks comfortably. We review key page types and journeys across devices, considering image sizes, scripts, accessibility and the behaviour of any services the website depends on.

A practical handover

A finished build needs a clear way forward. We explain the editing tools, document the important connections and agree access arrangements, recurring services and maintenance needs. Your team can understand what they have and where to turn when they need help.

From the first question to a working website

Clear decisions.
A considered build.

We break the work into understandable stages, with room to review real features before they reach your customers.

Start with a conversation
  1. Understand

Start with the job to be done.

We talk through who will use the website, what they need to accomplish and where your current setup falls short. Your existing platform, internal tools and priorities help us frame the problem before we suggest a solution or estimate the work.

    • Your users
    • Your priorities
  2. Review

Get to know the moving parts.

Where there is an existing site, we review its code, platform and integrations with the access you provide. For a new build, we explore the requirements and available tools. We identify dependencies and questions that need answering before the technical plan is agreed.

    • Technical review
    • Dependencies
  3. Plan

    Make the scope concrete.

We set out the features, editing requirements, data flows and project milestones. The proposal explains what is included, which services may carry recurring costs and what your team needs to supply. We also agree how the finished work will be reviewed and accepted.

    • Agreed scope
    • Shared milestones
  4. Develop

Try it as it takes shape.

Development takes place in a separate staging environment, where you can review real pages and working features. We bring the interface and underlying functionality together, sharing progress at agreed points and working through feedback while the build is still taking shape.

    • Private staging
    • Your feedback
  5. Test & launch

    Check the journeys that matter.

We test the agreed features, forms and integrations, including useful checks for missing information and failed requests. Launch planning covers the domain, hosting, redirects and any data transfer. Once live, we revisit the key customer and editing journeys to check the move.

    • Journey testing
    • Planned launch
  6. Handover & help

    Keep the knowledge close.

We show your team how to manage the relevant parts of the website and explain the important technical dependencies. When a question comes up, you can talk to a real person who knows the build. Maintenance and future development are agreed around your needs.

    • Team training
    • Practical support

Before we get started

Before we get started.
A few useful answers.

Scope, collaboration and what comes next. A little clarity before your first conversation about web development.

Ask us anything
Do you develop WordPress and custom websites?

Yes. Our development work includes WordPress, PHP and Laravel. We recommend an approach after understanding the features, editing needs, integrations and maintenance requirements. An existing platform may already do what you need; where custom development is justified, we explain the reason and scope before work begins.

Can you work on a website another developer built?

We can review an existing website first. We’ll need suitable access and information about its platform, hosting and connected services. That review helps us explain what can be changed, what needs attention and whether a focused improvement or a more substantial rebuild is the sensible route.

Can our website connect to our other business systems?

Often, yes. It depends on the systems, their API or integration options and the permissions available. We agree the data that should move, the direction of the connection and how failures will be handled. Any third-party licences, usage charges or technical limitations are considered in the scope.

How do you price and schedule development work?

We start by understanding the requirements and any existing code or integrations. A proposal then sets out the agreed deliverables, costs, milestones and responsibilities. More complex features may need an initial investigation before we can quote accurately. Changes to the brief are discussed before additional work begins.

What happens after the website goes live?

We provide the agreed handover and training, with website backup and back-end access after the balance is paid in full. Hosting portal access is included where applicable. You can contact our team for help, and we agree the scope of fixes, maintenance and further development with you.

Every website has a carbon footprint. The UK data centre behind our hosting purchases 100% renewable electricity from sources including wind, solar and hydro, reducing reliance on fossil-fuel power.

Using less energy matters, too. Efficient cooling, modern servers and smart caching help reduce wasted energy while keeping your website responsive.

Beyond the servers, our hosting platform supports tree planting and carbon reduction projects through Ecologi. It’s a practical approach to a lower-carbon web, backed by people you can call when your website needs a hand.
