A business with a strong point of view
Henry’s is a family-owned Texas-style smokehouse in Lancashire. I brought its bold personality, restaurant experience, catering offer and smokehouse store together in a website that gives each customer a clear route.
Henry’s Smokehouse is based in Greenhalgh, near Preston and Blackpool. Its identity comes from a hands-on approach to barbecue, a family story and the atmosphere of gathering around a table. The website needed room for that character while still helping people do ordinary, practical things: look at the menu, book a table, plan an event or order food to enjoy at home.
I used the visual language of the smokehouse rather than a generic restaurant formula. Bold typography, warm colours and close-up food imagery create a distinctive first impression. The presentation gives the business its own rhythm, with the important choices still easy to find.

One brand, several customer journeys
The main navigation separates food and drink, the store, catering, events and the family story. A diner can follow the table-booking route, while someone arranging a wedding or work event can explore the catering information. Customers looking for smoked meats have a separate route into the shop. These are related parts of the same business, with different questions to answer before someone takes the next step.
The store presents products through categories and individual product pages. Delivery and collection guidance is linked close to the shopping journey, so practical details are not left as an afterthought. It is a different task from restaurant marketing, and the design reflects that without making the shop feel like a separate brand.

Making the people and the food visible
The family story gives the website a human centre. Visitors can learn about pitmaster Lee Hughes and the approach behind the food, with photographs of the smokehouse and its people carrying the narrative. Catering information, event listings and the smokehouse journal make space for the different reasons someone might return.
Responsive layouts keep the character on a phone while allowing the content to change shape. Strong headings, clear links and prominent next steps make a large website easier to browse in smaller sessions. Someone discovering Henry’s through a social post should be able to find the relevant page without working through the entire homepage.

A connected hospitality website
The finished website brings the restaurant and its wider offer into one recognisable online home. My design and development work connects presentation with purpose: atmosphere for the first impression, useful detail for the decision, and a suitable next step for the customer.
This project shows why a hospitality website can be more than menus and opening times. When the business also sells products, hosts events and caters for private occasions, those journeys deserve their own space. The site can communicate a strong personality and still be organised around how people actually buy, book and enquire.
