A destination with people at its heart
Two apartments, remarkable sea views and hosts who know their island. For The Lookout Bequia, I brought the accommodation, the practical details and the people behind the welcome into one connected website.
The Lookout is a boutique, self-catering accommodation business above Lower Bay and Princess Margaret Beach on Bequia, in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Hosts Chris and Lou Smullen welcome guests to Ocean Deck and Hummingbird Deck, two apartments with distinct outlooks and their own living spaces. That personal relationship matters: guests are choosing a place to stay, but they are also deciding who to trust with a long-awaited trip.
The design gives the sea views room to speak while keeping Chris and Lou visible. Their story, local knowledge and practical advice sit alongside the apartment information. It is a hospitality website with a recognisable voice, rather than a collection of anonymous accommodation listings.

From inspiration to useful detail
I organised the experience around the questions that shape a holiday enquiry. Visitors can compare the two apartments, explore dedicated accommodation pages, look through photographs and check rates and availability. Clear routes between these pages help someone move from enjoying the view to understanding whether the stay suits their group and dates.
The apartment pages combine photographs with information about bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas and facilities. Availability and enquiry panels bring the next step into that experience. Guests can share their preferred dates with the hosts, who confirm the details before a booking. This preserves the direct, personal approach of the business rather than suggesting a booking is complete before it has been agreed.

More than an accommodation brochure
A trip to Bequia involves questions beyond the apartment itself. The resource hub, getting-here guidance, FAQs and island stories give that information a clear home. Guests can plan their journey and explore the surrounding area without losing the connection to the accommodation. Relevant links connect practical advice with the pages where visitors can enquire.
Large imagery, readable typography and a responsive layout carry the same character onto smaller screens. Mobile visitors can explore the apartments, find contact options and follow the enquiry route without needing the desktop navigation. Genuine apartment photographs and the hosts’ own perspective make the content specific to this property.

A website built around the welcome
The result is a website that presents the stay as a whole: the setting, the spaces, the hosts and the practical information a guest needs to decide. My role was to bring those parts together through design and development, so that the site feels like an introduction to The Lookout before a visitor arrives.
It is a useful example of the approach I bring to hospitality projects. Start with what makes the business worth choosing, give each important question a clear answer, and make the next conversation easy. The website should support the way the owners actually work, with presentation and functionality moving in the same direction.
In the client’s words.
“He is honest, very responsive, creative, and talented.”
