From a specialist capability to a useful conversation

Manufacturing websites.
Make your capability clear.

A manufacturing website needs to make a technical offer understandable. I help you organise products, applications and capabilities so a buyer can establish whether you are a suitable supplier, then send the information your team needs to take the enquiry further.

Help a buyer establish the fit

The detail buyers need.
A structure they can follow.

Your buyers may arrive with a part number, a particular application or a problem they need a supplier to solve. A website organised only around internal department names can make each route difficult. I plan the information around how customers identify products, compare options and establish whether your capabilities fit their requirements.

The right first build might be a clear capabilities website with an enquiry form. It might instead need a searchable catalogue, downloadable specifications or a trade e-commerce store. Those are different projects. I work through the content, commercial rules and systems before recommending the amount of development needed.

My Web Design Wigan work includes Sumison’s manufacturing and trade business, alongside specialist B2B communication for Aniras Holdings UK. Those projects offer useful examples of product structure and technical explanation. Your own claims, tolerances, certifications and supply arrangements remain grounded in information your business can verify.

What matters in the work

Explain the capability.
Support the buying decision.

Talk it through

Give buyers several entry points.

Organise products by the routes customers actually use: product family, application, industry or specification. A buyer who knows the part should not have to follow the same journey as someone investigating a new requirement and comparing possible manufacturing approaches.

Present specifications consistently.

A repeatable product structure can bring descriptions, drawings, dimensions and supporting downloads together. I help decide what belongs on the page and what needs a document, so important information remains usable on mobile as well as a large office screen.

Qualify technical enquiries.

Forms can collect a product reference, quantity, application and relevant initial files where appropriate. We agree the fields with the people who handle enquiries, keeping sensitive technical material and detailed quotation work within the process your business actually uses.

Separate trade rules from display.

If customers buy online, pricing visibility, discounts, account access and delivery rules need explicit decisions. Sumison is an example of a WooCommerce trade build with custom pricing features. The right rules for your store are scoped around your own commercial model.

Plan system connections early.

Stock, orders, product data and customer records may live in different systems. I can assess development and integration needs before the design fixes a workflow in place, including supported interfaces, the source of each field and responsibility when a connection fails.

Make expertise discoverable.

Useful application pages and clear product explanations can support search visibility and give AI systems more understandable source material. AIO builds on accurate, accessible content, with product terminology and business information organised around the questions your prospective customers ask.

Sumison

Sumison is a Manchester-based manufacturing and trade business specialising in doors, handles and hardware. I built its trade storefront using WordPress, WooCommerce and Elementor, including custom trade features, customer discounts and a trade pricing manager. The project includes Linnworks and payment-gateway integrations. The storefront is shaped around the trade business’s commercial workflow and the systems supporting it.

Aniras Holdings UK

Aniras Holdings UK is an adjacent specialist service business working with food manufacturers, rather than a conventional product manufacturer. Its website explains co-product recovery, consultancy and the routes between factory, farm and energy. The case illustrates how I structure a technically involved offer so different audiences can find the service and information relevant to their operation.

The detail behind the work

Agree the information.
Then build the system.

A useful manufacturing website starts with the people who know the products and the people who sell them. I bring those views into one practical brief.

01

Map the buyer and the catalogue

We establish who uses the site: procurement teams, engineers, trade accounts, distributors or end customers. I then review the product families and capabilities with you, separating essential buying information from internal terminology that may need explanation for a new visitor.

Existing product data, documents and photography are reviewed before promising an import or a filter system. A small, well-structured catalogue can be a better starting point than a large import with missing specifications, inconsistent references and no agreed process for keeping it current.

02

Choose enquiry, quotation or checkout

Some products suit a straightforward checkout; others need a technical conversation before a price can be confirmed. We make that distinction visible and agree which information a visitor can see before registering, requesting access or contacting your sales team.

Where a custom quoting tool would help, its rules and limitations are defined separately. The website should not imply that an indicative calculation is a final commercial quotation, or expose information that your business intends to share only with approved accounts.

03

Build around the source of truth

For an integrated project, we identify where product, price and stock information is maintained. The interface is then designed around the data available, with explicit decisions about updates, errors and the information staff can change without creating conflicts elsewhere.

I test the agreed journeys with representative products and account types. That can include enquiries, downloads, search and checkout where commissioned. Performance and responsive checks sit alongside the commercial rules, because a technically accurate catalogue still needs to be straightforward to use.

04

Give the team a manageable website

The handover covers the content your team is responsible for and the process for changing it. On suitable WordPress builds, the Pro toolkit supports editing and ongoing care; a compatible AI/MCP connection can be configured within agreed permissions.

After launch, e-commerce SEO or broader search work can focus on useful categories, applications and product information. We use available evidence to prioritise improvements, rather than publishing large numbers of indistinct pages for every variation of a keyword.

A clear starting point

A focused first build.
Room for the next step.

A capabilities and enquiry website starts with a defined scope. A transactional trade store starts from £1,500 plus VAT; account rules, catalogue complexity and system connections determine the final quotation.

Before we get started

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Can you build a manufacturer’s website without online checkout?

Yes. A capabilities website can explain what you make, the applications you support and the process for requesting a quotation. A structured catalogue can also be useful without displaying prices or taking payments. I would choose the enquiry and sales route around how your business qualifies and fulfils work, rather than treating checkout as the default.

Can trade customers have different prices?

That can form part of a separately scoped trade store. We would agree account approval, price visibility, customer groups, discounts and who maintains the information. Sumison’s custom trade pricing is a relevant example. The precise implementation depends on your platform and systems; it is not an automatic inclusion in the brochure-website starting price.

Will you write technical product claims and certifications?

I can help organise and explain supplied technical information, but specifications and certification claims need verification by your business. Drawings, documents and approved wording should have a clear owner and version. That keeps the website useful to buyers without presenting a designer’s assumption as an engineering commitment or current accreditation.

Can you connect our stock or order-management software?

I can assess the supported integration options as part of discovery. The required fields, update direction, frequency and failure handling need to be agreed before quoting. Consultancy can also be useful when your internal team or another supplier owns part of the system and needs a clear development brief.
