Help people choose something for their home

Homeware e-commerce.
Make the detail easy to choose.

People cannot touch a fabric or hold a finish through a screen. A homeware shop needs to make photographs, dimensions, materials and choices work together. I build e-commerce websites that help customers compare the range and give your team practical tools to manage it.

An attractive shop with useful information

Show the character.
Explain the product.

Homeware customers often explore by room, material, colour or the feeling they want to create. They may then need very precise information before buying: a width, fabric, finish, fitting detail or delivery arrangement. The design should connect those two parts of the decision, with a catalogue that is enjoyable to explore and practical to compare.

I work on e-commerce design and development for businesses with different products and budgets. Simply Worktops and Blanket Box are WooCommerce examples; my rucomfy work adds another perspective on a broad, visually distinctive home-furnishings catalogue. Each project has its own scope and ongoing services.

You work with me directly on the shop and the systems behind it, drawing on my Web Design Wigan service. I help decide how the catalogue, content, editing and checkout need to fit together, then build around the particular products your customers are choosing for their homes.

What matters in the work

A shop people can explore.
Products they can understand.

Talk it through

Create useful collection routes.

Collections can reflect the way customers shop: product type, material, room or another meaningful choice. I plan categories and navigation around the actual range, so visitors can move towards relevant products without being presented with several indistinguishable routes to the same small selection.

Make photographs and details agree.

Product and lifestyle imagery accompany dimensions, materials, care information and what is included. Consistent layouts support comparison, while clear option labels explain which photographs and details relate to a particular size, colour or finish.

Handle options clearly.

Variations, personalisation and related accessories need a practical buying journey. We agree the product rules before building the interface, including what changes the price, what requires an enquiry and which information the team needs when an order is placed.

Fit the shop to fulfilment.

Delivery arrangements, payment choices, stock handling and order information affect everyday work. I scope the website around the systems and rules available, with integrations or unusual shipping requirements considered early rather than left as a surprise after the design is finished.

Connect products and search work.

E-commerce SEO can bring category content, product information and Merchant Centre management into an agreed programme. Clear, accurate catalogue information remains the foundation. Search and order data can help identify which categories, products and customer journeys deserve attention next.

Keep improving the shop.

A retail website changes with the catalogue and the business. Maintenance, support and further development can sit alongside content or marketing work, with a direct contact who understands the original build and the practical choices behind it.

Simply Worktops

Simply Worktops is a WooCommerce build for an existing client, supported by my ongoing SEO, AIO, Google Ads, hosting and maintenance work. The shop presents kitchen surfaces and accessories, with material, brand and dimension information helping customers compare the range. It is a relevant example of a detailed catalogue and an ongoing relationship spanning the storefront, its visibility and its care.

Blanket Box

Blanket Box is a Lancashire family business selling blankets, throws and related homeware. I built its WooCommerce shop as a budget-conscious e-commerce project and continue with SEO, Google Ads, hosting and support. Product materials, colours and uses sit alongside the family’s story, showing how a carefully scoped shop can still have a distinctive personality and a useful catalogue structure.

The detail behind the work

Start with the catalogue.
Build the right buying journey.

The product range and the order process shape the project. I work through those details with you before deciding what the shop needs for its first release.

01

Make the product information usable

We review the catalogue, options, photographs and descriptions that are available. I identify the fields needed for a useful product page and the choices that make sense as categories or filters, with a clear owner for keeping that information current.

If products need importing, the source data is reviewed before agreeing the migration scope. Consistent references and option names matter to the shop, the team managing it and any connected systems. Cleaning that structure early can avoid confusing choices appearing in the finished catalogue.

02

Agree payment, delivery and customer information

We work through the order journey, including supported payment gateways, delivery arrangements and the information customers need before committing. Your approved business policies and product terms should be easy to find, with the right detail connected to the particular item or order.

Complex delivery calculations, personalisation or quotation requirements are scoped around their rules. The aim is a clear customer journey and a manageable order for the team, with any external platform charges or specialist development included in the commercial discussion before building starts.

03

Design and check the complete shop

I design around real products and representative long or short descriptions, then develop the agreed WooCommerce features. We review collection, product, basket and checkout journeys on different screen sizes, including clear option selection and useful messages when a required choice is missing.

Testing uses an agreed safe route for payments and order handling. The handover covers the fields your team will edit, the way products are organised and the responsibilities for connected systems. Supported AI/MCP access can be configured on a suitable build within agreed permissions.

04

Plan the work after launch

The next priorities might be better collection content, additional photography, product improvements or a more focused advertising campaign. Google Ads and AIO can be considered alongside the shop, with a relevant landing page and accurate product information.

I can continue with hosting, maintenance, support and agreed search work. Improvements are prioritised using available evidence and practical feedback from the business, recognising that product availability, pricing, delivery and customer service also influence what happens after someone reaches the website.

Before we get started

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Can you move products from my existing shop?

I can assess the available export, product information, images and order of the catalogue before quoting a migration. Product variants and custom fields need particular care. The scope should state what is moving, how it will be checked and what happens to established page addresses, rather than assuming every export can be imported unchanged.

Can customers order samples or personalised products?

Those journeys can be included where the product rules and fulfilment process are defined. We would agree the information collected, the relationship to the main product and how the order appears to your team. A straightforward option and a custom configuration system involve different development, so the quotation should make that distinction clear.

Will SEO and advertising be managed after the shop launches?

They can be part of a continuing service as agreed. Simply Worktops and Blanket Box are examples with ongoing marketing support, each with its own scope. I can plan category and product improvements, Merchant Centre work or advertising around the business, with the starting build price and continuing services set out separately.

Can my team manage the shop and use an AI tool?

A suitable WooCommerce build can give your team practical editing tools for agreed catalogue and content tasks. A compatible AI/MCP connection can also be configured with appropriate permissions. Product facts, commercial decisions and significant changes still need a clear owner, with a review process that suits how your business operates.
