Bringing a family-run retailer online
A focused WooCommerce shop for Blanket Box, with ongoing SEO, Google Ads, hosting and support for the Lancashire family business.
Blanket Box is a Lancashire family business selling blankets, throws and related homeware. Its website brings together different materials, colours and uses, from wool and recycled throws to personalised gifts. Jane and Steve’s own story gives the business a personal identity that matters alongside the products.
I built the WooCommerce website as a budget-conscious e-commerce project and continue to provide SEO, Google Ads, hosting and support. The aim is a shop that feels welcoming and coherent, with clear ways to explore the range and enough practical information to support an online purchase. A carefully scoped build still needs to reflect the people behind the business.

A visual experience built around the products
The design uses soft backgrounds, generous product imagery and teal accents. The opening feature introduces a collection through lifestyle photography, while the wider homepage offers routes into product categories and selected items. It gives the shop a warm visual character without making the buying journey difficult to follow.
Blankets are a considered visual purchase. Visitors may be comparing a colour for a room, looking for a gift or choosing a particular material. Showing products in context, then giving them clear individual pages, helps those different visitors explore in a way that makes sense to them. The product photography does a large part of that work.

Making a varied range easier to browse
The catalogue separates collections such as wool, fleece, cotton, recycled blankets and personalised products. Category pages pair introductory information with product listings, while browsing controls give customers ways to narrow the range. Stock information and visible prices help them assess the choices before opening a product.
Individual product pages bring the image, description, price and purchase controls together. Delivery and returns information sit within the wider shopping experience. Corporate and personalised blanket pages provide other ways into the business for customers whose needs go beyond buying a single item from the standard range.

Keeping the personal side visible
The website gives the family story and customer feedback a place alongside the shop. Those are useful signals for someone buying from a retailer they may not have encountered before. They also make the site feel connected to the people who run the business, rather than presenting a generic catalogue.
The customer comments displayed on Blanket Box relate to its products and service. They remain the retailer’s feedback and are not used as testimonials about my development work. The case study focuses on the website and the services I provide, keeping those different kinds of evidence clear.

Build, visibility and ongoing support
My continuing work includes SEO and Google Ads, alongside hosting and support. A useful shop needs relevant product and category content as well as a technically sound browsing experience. Marketing activity should connect people with the right part of the catalogue and give them a clear route towards a decision.
For this client, the benefit of an ongoing relationship is having website and marketing support connected to the same understanding of the business. I can work with the shop as its range and priorities change, rather than treating launch as the end of the conversation. The result is a focused e-commerce example for independent retailers who want a professional online shop and someone they can continue to work with afterwards.
